This site provides sketch-maps and photographs of four mountain bike trails in South/Central Hampshire - in total, nearly one hundred miles of cycling.
I have developed these routes from riding in the area over many years, and have tried to incorporate as many interesting features as possible together with some of the most impressive views of the local countryside.
All the trails are circular and designed to be ridden in either direction, starting from any point. The numbers on the maps simply refer to the photographs.
They all converge at the Church of St Barnabas in Swanmore. That is simply because I live in the village - it is not intended to be a start or a finish.
Each combines off-road and on-road elements, although I have avoided busy roads.
Trail 4 can be ridden entirely on road, so can be followed by those with road bikes.
Some parts of the off-road sections can be muddy - even in summer.
If you live on a route then you can start from your own front door. If you are driving to the area, I have marked on the maps the locations of public car parks.
The maps highlight landmarks and some road names to aid navigation. They are not intended to be used on their own. It would be best to trace your route, in advance, on the relevant Ordnance Survey Maps and then to take those maps with you in case you get lost on the way or get tired and want to seek a short cut.
Beneath each sketch-map is a link which will allow that map to be printed on one A4 sheet without any other page content.
All the trails are on the OS 1:25000 Explorer map No 119 - Meon Valley - with the exception of a short section of trail 3.
